I was feeling like getting out of shape so I went for a walk around the fields near Palic. As I went along I noticed a large plume of smoke, thinking it was nearby. I flew the drone up to take a look and it turned out it was way farther away than I imagined. What’s more, judging by the direction of the onboard compass and GPS, it looked like the base was very close to my house.
I hurried back to “civilization” to get a glimpse of WiFi to see if my home cameras were still working. They fortunately were, and it turned out the fire was even further away, right near the border. It took the fire brigade until after Sunset to get it under control.
There was another plume of smoke too, in the opposite direction, way further south of Palic too. An article came out on the local news site stating that in this week alone the fire brigade was called 33 times.
